Try calling Smith & Wesson. I doubt they will nickel plate a gun for you, since they discontinued factory nickel guns over 20 years ago. Still, it would cost little to call and ask.

Here is their contact information, copied off their site:

Why would you want to nickel a gun that wasn't orignally nickeled, such as the 28? The Model 28, in good condition, is a highly desirable item, and IMNSHO, should be left alone. You darn sure won't help its value any by refinishing.

I've seen the plating done by Pittsburgh Handgun, 1330 Center Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, 412-766-6100, & they do as good a job as any factory does. In fact, Colt refers plating requests to them.

S & W does offer a few new models with a nickel finish - Model 21 & Model 36 for example. So they do have the capability of nickel plating although it may be something they contract out. If you're determined to do it call them.

I respectfully suggest you leave the blued model 28 in its original condition and look for an original factory nickeled model 28. It is probably a rare bird but it may exist. You might want to contact Roy Jinks at S&W to see if and how many nickel model 28's were produced. If you want an original S&W nickel plated .357 you shouldn't have too hard of a time finding a nice K frame (model 19).

I apoligize for not addressing your question directly to begin with. If you are dead set on nickel plating your model 28, contact Ford's in Florida. A quality job will probably be in the range of $300-350. Good Luck
