Coatings for firearms...

I'm giving some thought to getting my FireStar refinished. It'll never be a collectable, so I'm looking for something that will work best.

There used to be quite a bit of talk about ROBAR, and also hard chrome.

Any opinions or experience, or suggestions for other alternatives from y'all??

Doug

Well for cheap I would say that Duracoat or GunKote would work very well. They are durable, inexpensive, and can be touched up easily. Ceramic coatings are also very nice.

For carry hard chrome is likely your best since its about the hardest thing you can put on for a finish. I have never owned a Robar gun, but have heard many good things about them.

Doug, I have three guns that have been refinished with KG Guncoat. If it is done right, it is as tough as Robar.

Gun Kote is available from Brownells.
