30-03, 30-06, and 30-40 krag. The Mod 95 win. I posted previously is a 30-03. The inteersting thing is that the owner stated that his father used to shoot 30-06 in it also. The caartriges appear to be the same, except for the neck length of the 30-03 that appears to be the same as a 270 win. Interesting.

As you have mentioned, there is no difference between the 30-03 and the 30-06 other than the length of the neck. The neck was intentionally made extra long so that it could better hold the standard 220 grain bullet. 30-06 cartridges can be safely fired in a 30-03 chamber, but the neck will stretch a bit.

The -03 used the 220gr RN found in the Krag, but when they changed to the 150(ish)gr bullet they didn't need the longer neck anymore (extended onto the ogive?) so they shortened the case length.
No problem with firing the -06 round in a -03 chamber, other than the possibility of a carbon buildup at the case mouth (see discussions of extensive firing of 38spl ammo in 357Mag chambers).
EDIT: my error. I meant to say '95 Winchester, not Krag. Sorry.
What other rifles were chambered for the 30-03? It looks like the 30-03 is the parent cartridge for several rounds, and if some one was reloading for this caliber, the 270 or 280 brass could be used for the ammo.
While it was never officially listed, Winchester apparently made a few Model 54s and a few Model 70s in 30-03... but they are quite rare.
