44 Special compatible w/ 44 Mag?

Can you shoot a 44 Special cartridge in a rifle chambered for 44 Mag?

In theory yes.....but it depends on the gun. Is it a lever action, single shot, auto?

You may or may not have feeding problems when cycling the action. Many of the lever-actions are picky about the OAL of the cartridge.

Yes.

Shooting .44 Spcl in a .44 Mag is just like shooting a .38 Spcl in a .357 Mag, or shooting .22 Shorts in a .22 Long Rifle... no problems what-so-ever when single loaded.

Thanks Bert. I ask because I came across a half used box of 44 Special ammo the other day...odd because I never had anything chambered for the 44 Special. Figured I'd use 'em up.

You may already know but be sure to clean your chamber well after shooting the 44spl. You may have a hard time chambering the 44mag ammo unless you do.

OK...one last question on this topic. Can the 44 Special be fired in a 44 Mag SA revolver?

Yes it can... you can shoot .44 Spcl in any type .44 Mag revolver.
