barrel liner adhesive

I am currently installing a barrel liner in a single shot brass .41 caliber derringer. I had originally planned to use LOCTITE 277 or maybe DEVCON Two ton epoxy. I have learned from some nice folks that they have used Brownell's ACRAGLASS successfully. I have a feeling that the liner may be a bit loose, even with the knurling that will be on the insert at the front, middle and end of the liner to take up some of the possible wooble or looseness in the insert,(but maybe not!)when I install it in the barrel. Can anyone tell me which might be the best product to use in this case? Or if there is a better one? Thanks.

I've used Brownell's for many things and would probably use it in your application, but it would be worth giving Brownell's a yell and get their opinion.

The people that make barrell liners should also be helpful.

I've used accra glass for .22 r.f liners and .32/20 liners... works very well

To expand on the above good advice, the two-part epoxy products are probably all good. I prefer one with powdered metal in it. There are several available at auto parts stores and Walmart. The package usually will say drillable, tap-able, etc.

I stay away from 5 minute or quick-set types, in favor of the normal cure time products. Under the heat of a light bulb most of them set up hard enough to work with after a couple hours, sometimes less. I always put a gob of the adhesive along side the work to serve as a gauge of when it is set up. Hope this helps.

Accuglas has always been the go to for liner installs.

I've done several with Brownells Acraglass. They will give you instructions for free. Brownells recommends it with their barrel liners. Never had a problem with liners installed this way. Really not hard to do. Good luck with it.

Use Brownell's Steel Bed. It is atomized stainless steel filled 2 part epoxy. It is machinable, and has less shrinkage than any other thing I have found on the market.
