Sound Suppressors! Advice wanted!

I have been wanting to invest in a couple of sound suppressors for my 45 and my AR. I have been up in the air on whether to purchase a Surefire or Gemtech for my AR. The Gemtech is a little cheaper price wise but I still haven't found any "Hard" info on reliabilty and lifespan. Any Links, comments, and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am not looking to silence the 223 round because I know you can't silence a high velocity round. I am looking for a good suppressor to take care of the majority of the muzzle noise.

I have a Gemtech for my Walther but it's just a 22LR. I have shot my dealer's 45ACP with a Gemtech and it's impressive. I know the Gemtech is not the most expensive guy on the block but as my dad said "if you get what you pay for ... call it a good deal". I'm happy with mine.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Surefire suppressors are very nice and high quality but overpriced compared to Tactical Innovations, Gemtech and AWC.

And I personally own the Blackside and Tac16 and they work for me.
    AZEX is on it there.

My personal favs and the reasons for them.

.45, Gemtech Blackside. Not the Uber-quietest but light enough to work reliably without a Neilsen device or Linear decoupler or LID, recoil booster or whatever you want to call it. It's small, and very very light.

.223. Not the "high speed know it all's" choice, but here it is. Tac Innovations TAC16...The only user-serviceable full auto rated .223 can. It's not the lightest, nor does it sport some fancy, over hyped, over engineered QD attachment system. BUT, you can take it apart and clean it yourself. No other .223 can allows you to do that. and they're cheap.

I would stick with one of the main suppressor manufacturers. SWR,AWC,Gemtech, SRT and AAC all make good cans. The AAC Black box is suppose to be a great 45 can. As far as .223 goes one from any of those companies would be great. Surefire is a flashlight company, I wouldn't buy a flashlight from Gemtech or AAC.

The reason I was thinking about a Surefire was because locally it is the only one I have been able to find anyone that knows about it. I have a couple of buddies that are in SWAT and Tac response teams and their cans are Surefires issued by the dept. for their ARs and they seem to really like them. I did check out Surefires website on them and they look like a fine piece of work but I just found out yesterday that they start at about $800 before the form4 cost. I am glad for the responses and other manufacturers! Thanks Fellas!

As a reply to Mooseyard, I have checked on the SF cans, they are available to non-LE persons. I still have to fill out all the paper work and the $200 tax stamp[xx(], but as long as I can legally own a firearm I can own Class3 goodies[:D]. I love Indiana! I'm still not sure who I want to purchase one from, but if the info I have read on the SF cans and what my buddies have told me from their experience they are still on my list. Thanks everybody again for all the input!

I'm not sure if this is still true, but when the SF cans first came out they would only sell them to LE departments. As a dealer I tried getting one to demo to a local department. When I contacted SF they told me they would be more than happy to come out and demo it to the department because they couldn't allow their cans to go to dealers or individuals. They claimed that it was CA law that suppressors made in CA only be sold to LE. I'm not sure if this is still true. I've also had horrible custmer service from SF in the past on bad flashlights. I would be leary about buying something that expensive from them.
