Anyone ever had, or shot a TT-33, I believe it's a 7.62x25. Just curious about them, how they shoot, reliability, durability, any other impressions.

I picked up two russian tokarevs, one was manufactured in 1944 and the other 1953. I think they have been refinished at an arsnel because below the slide release is a rectangle with a diagonal line through it, and they look like new. My question; why is there is no safety on these pistols? I know they were originally manufactured without saftey, but I thought to be importated they had to be equipped with a safety. Did they import some before the saftey requirment?

Dunno. My Tokarev clone (Chinese) is a bring-back (Vietnam) with papers. No safety. FWIW. Joe

I think they are getting in Tokarevs without add-on safety catch as C&R guns. I have seen a couple myself.

Are you sure it is a real TT33. It sounds more like a romanian COPY. The original has a thumb safety!

I think you have the answer to that one.
Unaltered TT33s have more value to collectors.
