Yes, that is the entire number.
I've had this for 20+ years. It has the long barrel and the compensator. The owner before whom I purchased it was reported to have won the Missouri state championship with it twice.
I'm not really interested in selling it but would like to know when it was mfg'd.
It does have the cocking indicator so I know it is pre '77
IT shoots really good and has a most excellent trigger.
Thanks,
Charles

S.N. 1401, circa 1957 was the first Model 41.

would you have an idea of how many of these were made each year? I ask 'cause it seems to me a unit made during a year when fewer were mfg'd might have been made by more senior gun makers and thereby have better fit, finish, and closer tolerance.
thanks

EDIT This is an early unit BEFORE the A prefix. The Grips are well made custom AFTER-MARKET grips . They look of a quality that IMHO will not hurt or help value UNLESS when you take them off they are signed on the inside by Roper or some other famous Grip maker. The gun does show some use Almost 50 years old and most likely would be a great shooter.[:p] but I don't believe it would bring top dollar from a Collector[:(]
What's up with this grip? Is it after market or stock? It has some pretty nice checkering...
I thought the serial numbers began with letters but not this one
EDIT EDIT EDIT
I removed the grips and the only marking inside are the number 82 on each...
