Your local law enforcement, state sales tax department, state & local licensing divisions, US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, zoning board, insurance company and a good lawyer and accountant!

Yea i know thers a ton of stuff. I have been in business for a number of years so the basics have been done its just the FFL specifics that i looking for. Contaced state police today for there starter packet and downloaded and printed the nics forms.
Spider why the usps do they require to be notified of firearms shipments to addresses or just for shipping purposes, have accounts set up with ups already?

You have to file Form 1508 "Statement by shipper of firearms" with your local post office (or post office of mailing) if you plan on shipping handguns through USPS

"You have to file Form 1508 "Statement by shipper of firearms" with your local post office (or post office of mailing) if you plan on shipping handguns through USPS"

Each time you mail a handgun this form must be presented to the clerk on the window.

This is a link to a website that has PDF files in which you can just fill in the info for some forms. The USPS form is on there so you can fill it out before you get to the post office. Makes life a little easier.

    Leroy,
How long did it take for the whole process. I sent in my application a little over a week ago. I had my ffl back in '98, but did not renew for personal reasons. It took over 12 weeks before I even got an interview from the ATF last time. I am hoping that they have streamlined the process a bit.

    Thank you,
    Mike

Jethro, I received my FFL about a month ago. From the day I mailed it to the day I received it was 6 weeks and 5 days. But I live in New Mexico too.

Thank you xbcrick. I am hoping that since I am still at the same address and nothing has really changed it will go quickly, but I will just keep figuring on late to mid Feb. That way, if it comes faster, I will be pleasantly surprised!
