Winchester 1200 interchangability?

Greetings,

I have a 12 ga. Winchester 1200 riot gun and a 12ga magnum winchester 1200. I wish to convert the barrel of the 1200 magnum to look like the 1200 trenchgun I carried in Iraq. So here are my two questions on the 1200.

First, are the barrels interchangable?

Second, can the 3 inch magnum barrel safely chamber 2 3/4 inch shells?

I thought Mossberg was the only shotgun to pass U.S. Military specs. Quite possible i am wrong but we shall see who else comes along.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Also thank you for your service to the County.

Your barrels are interchangable and you can add a barrel as you need to.

Concerning the shooting of 2 3/4 inch shells in a 3 inch chamber there is no problem. I have done it often. Stay clear of the 3 1/2 shells.

    Regards

Shooting 2 3/4" shells in a 3" chamber is fine, but watch out, some 1200 barrels are chambered only for 2 3/4" shells
