Presentation carbines are not that rare.

The problem is, there is little/no provenance for them. Did it leave the factory looking like that, or did someone tart it up? Who originally received it? No one really knows.

But, the way the gun is listed (hidden reserve, high BIN) tells me the owner is just playing games.

I've never heard of an XD # but then again I don't know every thing although sometimes I think I do.

Ask seller for maker's stamp located under the rear sight overhang. It will at least give you a baseline to start any possible research. Best, Joe

EDIT: Looks like it may be a U under the sight. If he says it is, it could be a National Postal Meter M1 carbine. Union Switch And Signal made receivers for NPM. May be a reason for the "X" designation...the plot thickens. Joe
