I have a browning a bolt browning and have found the bolt head has been turned not allowing the bolt to be put back in. How in the heck do I spin it back so I can put it back the way it was?

Hello I don't have a Browning A Bolt but most Bolt actions Cam the the firing pin back when you open the bolt handle . If you have the bolt removed and by accident turn the cocking piece then it will give you the condition you now have Be very careful or you can pinch your finger really Bad but if you have a very strong work bench and look at the little tab that would normally contact the trigger when the bolt is installed this has to be pushed back and then the cocking piece turned 90 degrees. To do this press on the bolt to push this tab back by holding against table until it goes back far enough to turn cocking piece 90 degrees. "did I say Be Careful "

I have an A-bolt as well, you can line up the bolt before you put it in. But the Browning's always seem like the part you thing would pivot does not. Grab the very front part of the bolt. Also it slides in much easier if you press the oval tab on the left side of the receiver (on right hand guns). I hope this helps.

If you have a pre-93 A-bolt, make sure that the gas stop assembly is oriented correctly. Pre-93 manual is here: http://media.browning.com/pdf/om/abolt_pre93_om_s.pdf
