What model Smith & Wesson is this? I'm going to try and find a cylinder lock for it and possibly some Houge grips.
The top of the barrel reads SMITH&WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS USA
PATENTED FEB.6.06SEPT.14.08.DEC.28.14
SN 5703XX
Sorry the pic is so lousey

a lady showed me an old S&W ser# 186 902 and asked me what it was worth. it was a 6 shot revolver possibly nickel finish. to eject the shells, you raised up on the rear sight ever so slightly. the barrel hinged down and the further down you pushed the barrel the ejector rod brought the casings out. i looked in my book and it looked very close to the model 1 S&W but the book said that model had a hand ejector.any info at all will be helpful.
    sorry no pictures

S&W made a great many top-break revolvers in the 1800's and early 1900's. They were quite popular. If you could tell us the caliber and barrel length and type of grips someone might be able to identify your gun, but a picture would be best.

there was no caliber stamped anyplace that i could see, even went over it with a magnifing glass. it had a 4" barrel and the grips looked to me like plastic . if you look at a picture of the model one, it looks very close to that
