Conversion kits

I'm talking about .22cal for the AR style rifles, are they any good? are they fun? Do they function properly? Are they accurate?

    I've been wondering about what conversion kits are out there. I'd love a .22 conversion kit for my Sig P-220 or Colt Defender. Anyone know if they are out there? I've done some searchs and I can only find 9mm.

    I'm also thinking about getting a Rock Island 1911 style. Inexpensive gun for a 1911 style and seems to do a good job as a shooter (would have to embezzle the money from the wife). Do the .22 conversion kits work well on these?

    Is there alot of work that needs to be done with these conversion kits, or do they fit and work well?

    I getting ahead of myself since I don't even have my FID and permits yet, but I am wondering if there are any conversion kits that converts say a glock or sig from .40 caliber down to 9mm or even down to a .22?

    The pistol instructor that worked with us this past weekend said that I can handle and should consider a .40, but it would be too much for my wife. I was thinking that a pistol with conversion kits would be the most economical for a pair of new shooters.

    The instructor had a glock 19 with a .22 conversion kit, but he forgot to bring the mag so we couldn't shoot the glock. He had me using a S&W .40 caliber revolver. It had a big kick and was double action, so the trigger pull + the recoil was cramping my finger/hand after the 100 rounds. He said that a .40 Glock would have the same recoil, but the trigger pull would be easier.

    The Glock 19 with the conversion might be the best way to go, but I'd like to know if there are options for the .40.

    Depending on what you want to do PLINK or Target Work I can suggest you will like a conversion unit on your rock island. If you like to plink and like some recoil then look for an older colt unit with floating chamber this must be kept clean . or less recoil with a Ceiner Kimber ETC if you want target grade then buy a Marvel they now come with Magazines that work and shoot target grade groups.
