Radom p35 question

I am interested in getting one of these pistols, but do not fully understand their complicated history and which year, factory, etc. are most desireable. Did the quality suffer as the war went on? Can anyone help me?

If this is not approrpriate for this forum? Could someone email me at christianwarrior1212@yahoo.com? Thank you.

There are several variations of the VIS pistol, some are prewar and most are under German occupation. For quality, earlier is better obviously as shortcuts were taken as the war progressed.
If you can get ahold of a copy of AXIS PISTOLS by Jan Still, you will have all the information you seek.

The more valuable peices will be the Polish Eagle marked guns. As the war progressed after the Germans took over Radom, the levers were deleted. First the decocker, and finally the slide release (I think). Truth be known, getting into gun collecting using the VIS 35 as a starting point is going to get expensive, and your chances of getting taken are pretty good. What SkyKing said about Mr Stills book is good advice. Having a guide to go from is eally de Rigeur. I really like Polish MAusers, and it took me a few years before I quit taking a beating on them. If it had an Eagle I jumped! Anyway, had I invested in a good referrence guide first, I think it would have paid for itself after about 2 guns! Anyway, if you are going to make the move sooner than later, I would stick with this site as most of the VIS 35's I've seen here were pretty well desrcibed and seemed to be sold by virtue of their originality. Do a "Smart Search" here using VIS 35 as a search phrase and see what they are selling for. That might make you want to start with a Communist TT33 Polish Tokarev to get your feet wet first! Good luck, and think about investing in that book.

Excellent site at this URL http://hem.passagen.se/dadkri/index.htm gives a basic rundown on the pistol your interested in, as well as other Polish firearms.
