Wanted to know the pros & Cons of these two pistols. Big game hunting backup weapon. Thanks for the imput.

    S&W 460 is more versatal it will shoot 460, 454 and 45 LC. The 44 your stuck with 44 or 44 mag. The Alaskan in 454 will shoot 454 and 45lc.

    Two totally differnt guns. Power, frame size, weight, recoil, and price. 44 has lots of reload info,and alot cheaper to own when considering cost and especailly ammo.

    If wanting a super mag.....Yachtdavi has good point.

    Like comparing a Mack truck to a full size pick up.

    Operative word, "backup" meaning it's a secondary firearm, and for fast close work the 44Mag w/300 grain XTP, or hard cast lead would be my choice.
    Being a handgunner, and having to chase an Alaskan brown away....I was in a stream grabbing Silver King salmon for supper, and he though he'd muscle in on my dinner either would be comforting, the 460 has a big power edge, but may only offer one shot due to recoil.
