If you need any more specific information to help with this determination please feel free to email me @: american.jingo@verizon.net

The serial number is: 342639. It has a straight grip butt stock with no pistol grip drop whatsoever. I would like to know what model this one is; 99A, 99C, 99C series A, Etc. And mostly I would like to know which model butt stocks will fit it, Will any Savage 99 stocks fit it; pistol grip, or monte carlo w/pistol grip, or only the straight grip (no pistol grip) such as is on it right now, or will any stock fit it that is out of the same model series etc.

My butt stock is a bit rough and has had multiple cracks that have been repaired multiple times and I am looking to replace the butt stock and need to know which ones will fit this firearm.

Thanks for your time,

I truly would appreciate the info/help.

There are several fellows here that can answer your question, but it would help to post a few pictures.

It looks like it is a Model 99H. I do not know what which (if any) other savage stocks will interchange with it. Frankly, and based on the condition of the rest of the rifle, I would just leave it as is. The serial dates it to the early 1930s.

The problem is that Savage puts the serial number on the forearm; receiver; butt stock and butt plate.

To keep your rifle original, these numbers must match...

JUST FOR YOUR INFO., ANY STRAIGHT GRIP STOCK WILL FIT, GUN PARTS CORP. HAS A SALE ON THEM NOW. I JUST PICKED ONE UP FOR ABOUT $55. THIS ISN'T AN ORIGINAL STOCK BUT IT WILL PUT THE RIFLE BACK TO SHOOTABLE CONDITION AGAIN.

I am not looking to collect, but to use this gun. I would of course keep all the original parts if I ever decide to sell it. Of course if I found out it was worth alot of money (alot to me is anything over $600) I probably could be persuaded to sell...
