Old Winchester rifle

I recieved an old Winchester lever action rifle with an octagaon barrel. It has "Kings Patent 3-29-1860" on top of the barrel. the serial number looks like 45813. I'm trying to find some info and model number for this gun. Can anyone help?

Does your Winchester have a bronze frame, or a steel frame? Both the Model 1866 (bronze frame) and the Model 1873 (steel frame) share the same King's patent (for the side loading port). I suspect that you have a Model 1866.

Actually it looks like steel not bronze. I will post some pic later today.

This is a Winchester Model 1873 - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=64467167

Note that both Models share the same Patent dates stamped on the top flat of the barrel.

It's definitely the 1873. Is it possible to still get parts? Hammer spring, Top ejection plat. thanks for your help.

Yes, original parts are very frequently listed on ebay. The "Top ejection plat." is referred to as the "Mortise cover" or more commonly, the "dust cover"... it has nothing to do with ejection of the cartridge.
