Winchester 1890 Tang Sight Question

I have a 3rd model in 22WRF and am thinking that I might want to install a tang sight. What should I be looking for? Will the new Lyman No 2 sight which is being touted for the 94 fit? Also, I assume that any tang sight for a '90 would also fit my 62? I recently picked up close to a 1,000 CCI rounds in 22WRF at an auction and plan to do a lot more shooting with the 90. Another question: will special screws be needed if I buy an old sight or can the original tang screws be used?

The new Lyman No. 2 for the Model 94 does not have the correct height elevation staff. What you need is an original Lyman No. 1A or a No. 2A with a "WS" application code stamped on the under side of the sight base. The "WS" coded sight is correct for a Winchester Model 1890/90, 1906/06, or a 62/62A. The original tang screw has too large of a head on it, and it is not long enough with a tang sight installed. There are a number of places that make the correct size & length tang screw for all of the various Winchester models for use with Lyman tang sights. You will also need to remove the filler screw and install the front tang sight screw. My vote is to find an original Lyman No. 2A tang sight.

I agree, Bert. And, most of those go for between 200.00 and 350.00 depending on the condition, as usual.
