Can a civilian AR-15 type lower receiver be converted to shoot full auto or do you need an M-16 lower. I have seen the parts for sale every now and then and always wondered if it can be done. I know it is NOT LEGAL - but its nice to dream.

Prior to the ban on manufacturing full autos, there were several machine shops that altered AR-15 receivers to make them into registered full autos. Fortunately, anyone smart enough to be a journeyman machinist is smart enough not to perform such a conversion today.

My preferred method of obtaining rapid fire legally is by Bump Firing.[:D]
What is your definition of BUMP FIRING ?
Bump firing is keeping your trigger finger stationary and using your grip on the forarm to pull the rifle into your trigger finger. The recoil and continued forward pressure on the rifle produces full auto results with a semi auto gun. It is easier to do with lighter rifles like an M4 configuration. It is legal because there is only one bullet fired for each pull of the trigger.
As I recall it was a 16 inch shoestring.
I may be wrong on the 16 inches.
Mis-remembering shoestring and barrel length.
I may be wrong on the shoestring.
Since that is my budget, it may be clouding the issue.
Now that's a question.... what if it WAS a SHOESTRING, use a bootlace.
Yeah, we may have something here with that bootlace gig !!!
I think what we'd have is that 10 years ?
