browning superposed restoration

I recently picked up a Browning Superposed 20 gauge Lightning that is/was a salt gun and it has some wood "issues" nicks, minor gouges, and a minor crack. I bought the gun right, and it can be used as is right now. Most everything is strictly cosmetic.
Who would you send the gun to for restoration? I contacted Browning, and they want 6-8 weeks to evaluate and offer an estimate then 12-18 months to perform the work. They also are very expensive.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ed
