38 what mdl.

looking at a s&w 38 spc. # inside yoke 74247 serial#K 285786
vent rib target sights I think it is a late mdl.M&P or a early Mdl.14 as the # in side the yoke does not say 14 I am not sure what it is or the value its about 50 to 65%

    Your gun was made in 1956, the year before Smith began using model numbers. The M&P models did not have target sights. Smith also did not have "ventilated" rib barrels, but they did use a narrow rib.

    Is it a 6" barrel? If so you probably have a pre-model 14 K-38 Masterpiece. Missed being a model 14 by 1 year. The Blue Book lists that gun at about $150.00 to $175.00 in 60% condition.
