Would a .45 round with an overall length greater than 1.270 be considered within specs?

I know someone haveing problems ejecting live rounds, and he claims that these rounds (reloads) are within specs at greater than that. My factory WWB rounds meassure 1.260 if I remember right.

And if his rounds are within specs why will they not eject as a live round?

They shoot fine, and eject as a spent round. All meassurements on the gun are fine as compaired to mine (same gun). But these reloads will not eject live.

What say ya'll?

Hello Cartridges of the world list OAL of 1.170 however Speer number 12 list the long nose 200 grain semi wadcutter as max 1.275 as you can see wide range. Many Bulls-eye shooters load the 200 grain lead semi wadcutter this bullet has a LONG nose and many match guns have extended ejectors these 2 things combined will not allow ejection of loaded rounds. Because We load with the head space to the front shoulder of the bullet. It comes down to what use the pistol and ammo is for. In a firefight I would load what will function in your pistol. In bullseye matches load what shoots the best group. Very little need to unload your pistol in a bulls-eye match and if this comes about you can drop the mag first and then drop the loaded round out the Mag well. "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"
