I have a small handgun that says "Cal.22 short" and on both sides of the handle is a type of shiny round item that says "puppy".

Does anyone know anything about this that will help me??

Thanks to all of you,

Barby

Odds are that you have a weapon made by Retolaza Hermanos in Eibar Spain. Not too common, they started in the late 1800's, and were still going after WW I. Seemed to have rep as decent quality firearm- not a huge collector's demand, just a decent gun. Last Puppy I saw was in 38 S&W, sold for $150.

It's difficult to trace your revolver to one specific manufacturer as "Puppy" was a generic name/term used by many Spanish & Belgian handgun manufacturers. This was in the years prior to the First World War. The revolvers were very small in size, usually with folding triggers, sometimes also equipped with manual safetys.

To the best of my knowledge, there's little collector demand/value for them in the U.S., at the present time. They would be considered more as a novelty or a conversation piece, then anything else. Unfortunately as they are functioning firearms, their sale should be handled similarly to conventional firearms.
