airsoft guns

Hey, wanting some advice from users of the airsoft guns. I'm considering buying several Glock style airsoft guns that have the blow-back slides to use in training scenarios for my PD officers. Also thinking of getting a couple of M-16 style rifles (same concept). Any advice? Bad brands? Repair issues? How fast does the 'green gas' get used up? Any help would be appreciated...

Green gas is your best option for any airsoft gun, if the gas is in the magazine in most cases the magazine can be loaded twice without any more gas. And not much gas is used.

I had a mac-11 style gas powered airsoft gun that was full auto selectable fire, it would shoot around 90 rounds before I had to refill the gas in the magazine. Magazines held around 30 I believe anyhow it was 3 refills of pellets in the magazine before I ran out of gas.

I have had 2 1911 style still have the one however it isn't a blowback it gets maybe 4 or 5 loads to a fill where the blowback I think only got 2 or 3 but its been a while.

I have yet to go threw 1 canister of gas and I bought 6 of the damn things when I started lol.

I only have the one 1911 left I would like to get a select fire gas carbine or rifle some day for screwing around with but right now I don't have the money and I dunno whats out there. Back when I bought my guns there weren't many gas operated guns.

Don't buy the electrics they suck having to charge them running out of juice at the wrong time etc etc etc.

As far as brands go most are good but I will let someone else take that up since I can't recall all the good ones its been so long. Tokyo Marui is one of the best I believe.

A good place to look whats out there is http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Home

There about the biggest Japanese importer of airsoft guns and one of the oldest

edit: I think I have ordered from here before anyhow there site layout is a lot easier than redwolf and here are a whole bunch of glock blowbacks

There are plenty of good stores here in the States now. The Glock gas pistols are excellent and have the proper feel. The M-16 can be either gas OR battery operated. Gas rifles tend to be more finicky than gas pistols.

I suggest Classic Army brand; they're all metal and have the feel of the real gun. They also have the M-4 carbine version.

I've had the impression (steeped in ignorance I suppose) that air soft guns are just toys, and expensive ones at that. I don't recall ever seeing a velocity given for the pellets, and can't quite wrap my mind around using them for training.

Is there more to them than this?
