Not enough info or pictures, but run of the mill 7.65 commercials average about eight to nine from real people if pristine. No gold mine there.

Lugers can run from a low of a $ 400.00 shooter to a $XX,000 dollar rare variation unless you show detailed pictures in focus with all markings on toggle front receive ring etc every thing else will be a WAG

    True story...
About 1955 I purchased a 1916 9mm 4" barrel Luger complete with spare magazine and original German holster with compartment for the spare mag. The serials all matched including on the magazines. It was in supurb condition with the bluing worn on the action from cocking. Here's the kicker... I paid $15.00 for it then a couple of years later sold it for $45.00 pleased that I had trippled my investment [V]. You have no idea how many times I've kicked myself since.

Worse is not buying it way back then. If I sold something, at least I had it in hand once, but when I could have bought something ???? There's no excuse I can think of!

    Been there, Done that!

I was watching one of these military shows the other day. They were interviewing a guy who had been a lieutenant with Patton's army in Germany.
It was March or April of 1945, and this lieutenant was in a Jeep with 3 other guys. They were supposed to go about ten miles ahead of the column and do some scouting. Well, they got about 20 miles out in front, and they encountered a German column, which was led by a general.
The American lieutenant decided to bluff his way out. He told the Kraut, "Patton's entire army is just behind me, over the hill. I demand your surrender."
The Kraut told him "We outnumber you 20 to 1. It is you who should surrender."
The American said, "Either you surrender to us, or you can turn around, march the other way, and surrrender to the Russians tomorrow."
The Kraut decided to surrender. He handed the lieutenant his Luger.

So this lieutenant was saying he had a Luger that was surrendered to him by a German general. He kept that pistol for about 15 years, and his kids were playing with it in the woods one day, and they lost it.
I bet that teen age punk didn't get to borrow the car for a date that weekend.

    Rusty,

What you describe sounds like a 1920's commercial Luger in 7,65 cal. Author Jan Still calls it the Alphabet Luger (with 4 -digit SN, suffix or without).

Recent prices I have been seeing at gun shows and on the Internet have started to creep up over $ 1000 or so. They seem to have been the unwanted step-child with Luger collectors in the past.

The Simpson LTD shop in IL State has these offerings. Keep in mind they are usually high being a retail/store :

And many more on this page :

You never know, as value can vary from person to person as to wants.

Couple years ago I managed to purchase a Luger for $150, fellow said his wife wanted it out of the house, (He also had a Broom handle Mauser, and I kicked myself for not dragging him to the bank to make a withdrawel to pay the other $150 he wanted for it.)
After a year of not liking how it shot, (or didn't, as it were), I did some research, and pretty closely that it was worth about $600 or so. Took it to a gun show, and spoke to several dealers about specifically wanting an M-1 Garand in trade.

Finally one of them asked me what I really wanted, and I had to explain to him three times that I really wanted to trade for a Garand. He finally got convinced that I was serious, and looked his over, and decided that if I would kick in $150, he would do it.

So I got my Garand for $300, (and the sales tax, and the transfer fee, and the hour long drive to go get it from the dealer after the waiting period.......), but it is a real nice one.
