Hi...Can someone tell me when Smith and Wesson started to equip their revolvers with finger-groove combat grips? BT

I got a couple of S&W grips as a kicker on a trade deal. The grips are what I call Mother of Plastic, or Pearlite. They are plastic ant look like pearl with Gold or Brass colored medallions. How can I tell if these are true S&W gips. I tried the K frame grips on a couple of guns and there seems to be some gaps around the top rear of the frame. The J frame grips will not reliable function; the grip screw sometimes gets in the way.

I'll post photos of the grips as soon as I can.

Is there an easy way to re position the grip screw on the J frame grips?

Is there an easy way to tell the difference between K L or N frame Grips?? I have what I thought were K/L grips but was told they are N.
I have pictures of the grips but no hosting site.

A true pocket rocket: the 1986-era M29 3" bbl RB Lew Horton Special, there were only 5k of 'em made. The grooved factory goncalo alves grips were TINY, varnished, slick & useless.
