    thelma,

    Welcome to the GB Forums!

This is one of the only mentions of your pump shotgun that I've seen. It will evidently take more work on your part to discover the who and what regarding this firearm.

Your National Firearms Company Shotgun is a hammer style Marlin 1898 shotgun, there are a number of different models all are the 98 style. This shotgun does not take standard length shell and should be shot only with light loads and not a lot. You need to make sure the weapon will pass 5 safety checks to determin it is safe to shoot light loads. Do a search for 1898 Marlin Shotgun and you will find a small manual with discription and the safety checks for your shotgun. Your shotgun in perfect condition may be worth 250-300 dollars because it was manufactured by Marlin for The National Firearms Company.
