Anyone familar with their Mauser offerings? Good buys, not so good buys. Any input would help. Much appreciated.

I would have to compare them to the companies selling the state quarters in a fancy package. They are still only shiny new quarters worth twenty five cents.
One day those Mausers will be collectors items. I would guess about 50-75 years. They do have access to a lot of collector weapons, but market them above their current value.
The current Kar98k has a shiny bolt. German 98s had blue bolts.
Basically they are magpie guns. For those that want it looking real purdy like and do not know they are not the "real" thing.
Of course, there are others making their Mausers to match and calling them authentic so the rule of thumb is: If you can not document it consider it a fake! (quote from Mauser Military Markings book)
There are a number of decent Russian capture Kar98ks available at a reasonable price. I would suggest you get a nicer one of those and enjoy shooting it as well as buy a couple Mauser books and read up on this fascinating rifle. Once you have gained some idea of the codes and waffenamts etc you will start to see the Kar98k world.
It really is a hobby within a hobby and most of these RC 98s shoot very well
Check out the latest Kar98ks at Classic. You can get an FFL to order the one you want from their list or try the GB forum
