...I have websites for most guns, but must have deleted the Smith one. Need a DOM for an Airweight .38 Sp., 2" barrel (1.75"?), not marked as a model 37. Ser. no. 279595. Anyone have the info, or a site for S & W DOMs? Thanks.

No on-line sites for S & W serial numbers, that I'm aware of.

There is something strange about your Model 37 ? Should be marked "MOD-37". They started marking them in 1957 at 125,000+. I have one in the 177,XXX range, with the MOD marking. Yours probably dates to 1962, should be marked?

...There it is...MOD 37....Had to get out a glass to see it. Darn tiny stamping and old eyes.

    Serial# 295000 started 1962 so 279XXX would be ~1961.

    ...Thanks guys.
...Bill Jordan....Is that Smith's general switchbord? They wouldn't do a DOM search for free, on the phone, would they?
