Your going to have to post quality pictures, or give us a very specific description of it's physical condition, including all dimensions and markings etc.

okay it has on the butt of the gun in a box the numbers 1874 below this box it has the numbers 49553. on the cylinder it has the number 655, and below the cylinder it has a number 2. It has a sideplate on the left side with 3 screws in it.on the barrel it says smith and wesson, springfield ma, us patent july 10 60, jan 17, july 65, & aug24, 69. It says russian it doesnt say schofield that i can find but i was told many years ago it was a schofield. It has a latch on the barrel, and lanyard ring is present. hope this info helps..

Your revolver isn't a Schofield as they were in .45 Cal. It seems? from your description you may have a #3, Third Model Russian. Value would be based on factory originality and current cosmetic condition. Values give in one of the older price guides, based on antique standards is in the $600 to $1800, range.

I believe what you have is a Third Model Russian. But detailed pitures would be needed to validate this as well as aid in valuation of the piece.

To add to Rufe's note above, the Schofield also had the latch on the frame, not the barrel. So caliber and latch position eliminate it as a Schofield. A lot of people make this mistake.

i have another question, the link above that was given to assist in identification helps. yes this looks like it but mine is in better shape, now my question is what is the difference in having the serial number on all parts or having assembly numbers, which is more valuable?thank you
