I'm not too hip on the idea of a lever action without an exposed hammer but a model 255 is currently on the auction block.

I was wondering if this model enjoys a good reputation for reliability. I've never seen one in person.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

I have a buddy that has one of these. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.... the magazine tube ring is plastic and breaks easily. It is a hard part to find... took me a year to find a perfect one.. It could be easily made though. That is if you are one of those picky people like me....and insist on factory....

[:0] hi new to the forum but not this site i have the complete set of 200 series 22's winchester made 250 lever 255 lever mag a 270 pump and 290 semi auto all four weapons are tack drivers and shoot very well i think as good as my mod 9422 just a little lighter rifle is all. as far as the plastic tube ring is concerned i have never seen it in my 255 maybe mine is an oddball as i regularly disassemble and clean these guns and no problems.
