Rem 870 barrel swap??

I have a 12ga 870 super mag(3 1/2 mag). It has a 26" barrel that I use for hunting. I also have a spare barrel that is 19" and is chambered for 2 3/4" & 3" shells. Can I use the shorter barrel on this gun as a home defense setup and just not load any 3 1/2" shells? Thanks!

    It should not be a problem since using 2 3/4" or 3" shells would not exceed the ratings on the receiver or the barrel.

    For home protection standard 2 3/4" ammo has plenty of power.

    is it the correct length the fit the magaine tube?
    if it fits and you use short shells only, that would be fine
