I have a chance to buy a Colt 1911 commerical model that was made in 1919. However, the gun is nickel plated and I don't know if that was a finish option that was available from the Colt factory that year. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello I have learned the big$$$ way to never say Can't happen when it comes to guns but IMHO your 1919 made COLT commercial DID NOT come nickel plated. It was a number of years before they started offering this on the 1911 type auto. I would get a letter from Colt IF THE PISTOL IS IN NICE condition the early commericals ARE collectable and if it does letter as Nickel it would most likely double or more the Value. A factory letter will increase the value in it's-self. We would love to see detailed pictures and might be able to give more informed opinion.
