Rechamber 338-378 to 378 or 416 WBY

Dear Experts,
Can you tell me my options to go from a 338-378 accumark to either a 378 or 416 wby? I'm assuming that since both are based on the same case that the only work would be the barrel. Can I have the barrel re-bored to the caliber?
thanks
jd

    jmdvet,

Yes you can have the barrel rebored. Measure the muzzle to be sure that you have at least 0.250" more diameter than the larger diameter you want get done. In essence:

0.375" + 0.250" = 0.625" is the minimum you need at the muzzle for safety.

    0.416" + 0.250" = 0.666" (not a great number in my opinion...)as the minimum.

Not all barrels are successfully rebored but the great majority are and the process is cheaper than getting a decent quality new barrel put on and chambered.
