BROWNING 1922 FIRING PROBLEM

I have a 1922 that will cycle properly but will not fire unless the magazine is removed.

If I chamber a round and leave the magazine in place, I can hear the firing pin fall, but the gun will not fire. If I chamber a round and remove the magazine, the gun will fire every time.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

The Model 1922's are supposed to have a internal magazine safety. It appears from your description that it's malfunctioning for some reason. Either it's broken, or more likely someone in the past has tried to disable it to improve the trigger pull.

The NRA Firearms Assembly book has a illustrated parts breakdown, and disassembly instructions for the Model 1922. It would help you to work on it, if you try to fix the problem yourself.
