I'm considering purchase of a 1947 (serial 414XXX) Savage 99 EG in .300 Savage, gun is 95% and all original condition; no added sling studs and no scope mounts. Very 'clean' rifle which has spent much of it's life leaning in a closet and wasn't shot much. Seller wants $625. Is this in the ballpark? Thanks.

the 99 you have described is indeed a fine rifle, but that being said 650.00 is top dollar for todays market around these parts. keep in mind that the eg 99 in 300 sav is probably the most common 99 you can find. other than the condition its a common find so as an investment it will be very slow to gain in value. jmho
