In my opinion it has lost it collector value and as it now stands it is a Shooter. To restore the pistol like Doug Turnbull does his it will cost you almost as much as the gun will be worth after it is restored. And then ONLY if it has the correct parts . If you have replaced or worn grips and incorrect barrel or even a number of replaced small parts then It may cost MORE then the gun is worth after restoring. Even then the pistol will always be a restored not original gun and to try to pass off as original is less then honest. shoot this one and buy a nice original condition pistol .TWO 1911's are always better then one. Do you really want to shoot a Turnbull restored pistol (NO) so why have a safe queen. Get a 95% condition original gun and then you can enjoy a gun by what it was ment for. Shoot it but maintain it. YMMV

Really man, any 1911 that runs flawless is a treasure to keep. If your going to sell than said values may apply depending on the purchaser. I feel it's a lot a hype to fall on collectors value for one reason. How much can you get from any prospective buyer? A gun is only worth what any given person can ultimately offer to pay for. Hanging on is only good so long as a negative history doesn't catch up to it. Example: (only an example) Like, Ya, they only made so many of what ever it is but the quality was so bad it had to be redesigned.
