Strictly speaking, NO, Winchester never made a Model 1873 Carbine with an octagon barrel. If an octagon barrel was desired in a shorter than standard length (24-inches), a "Short" Rifle could be special ordered. The most common "Short" Rifle barrel length was 18-inches, but they could be ordered in one-inch increments starting at 23-inches. Standard Carbines were always made with 20-inch round barrel. "Trapper" or "Baby" Carbines could be special ordered with a round barrel as short as 14-inches, but a 16-inch barrel is most often encountered.
