KEL-TEC P3AT........................

I have this question on the genereal discussion forum but I thought I might put it on this one also. My question is , can you " DRY FIRE " a kel-tec P3AT without damaging it? My dealer didn't advise it but I was wanting to know from you guys that own one if you have done it and if it hurt anything?

It's not recomended with any gun. But I have done it to all of mine with no problems. But you are better off useing snapcaps or a spent round.

Smith & Wesson, in their owners manuals, actually recommends dry firing practice. It will damage rimfires, and perhaps some floating firing-pin types, but it is generally harmless on centerfire weapons. If you are still nervous about it call Kel-Tec.

Actually, if you read near the back of the 3PAT owner's manual, it specifically states that dry firing is highly discouraged. Use a snap cap.

Well, there is your answer, they built it so I imagine they have a good reason for not recommending dry fire. Most centerfire hand guns are not affected.
