colt pistols

what is the major differences between the colt 70 and 80 series of pistols?? i believe that somewehre i heard the 70's were a higher grade/better gun??

    The 80 series has a firing pin block in the slide and a different trigger mechanism to release that lock. The 70 series is not a better gun but more desirable because it doesn't have the firing pin block.

    Peabo is correct . A firing pin block in its self is not a Bad thing IMHO not needed However the system chosen by Colth for their series 80 causes a heavier trigger pull unlike the SWARTZ safety used on some PRE WW II guns that colt built the Kimber used the Swartz style. As always many shooters don't think the fit and finish of todays guns by colt are as good as 30 + years ago "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"
