Marlin Camp 9 vs. Ruger PC9

I have some interest in getting one of these 9mm carbines. Does anyone have experience with either or preferably both? I know the Marlin isn't made any more. How's the price on both of these? I like the fact that you can use the standard Ruger pistol mags in the PC9. I'm leaning more toward Marlin, since I have been satisfied with them so far. Was the Marlin made with synthetic stocks too or just wood?

I cant say I ever seen a Marlin camp gun with a synthetic stock, thats not to say they arent out there. Both guns are very reliable,I would go with the Ruger PC9 because it will use the P series pistol mags, and they are still alot of them around. From 15rds to 30 rds I know the Ruger comes in synthetic and mine has always functioned well, as long as I keep it clean. But the Marlin has a better trigger. Gun Broker is the place to shop for this gun.

    Good Luck.

I haven't fired either, but the mags things is good to keep in mind. You can buy Factory hi-caps cheap ($50) and the aftermarket ones ($10-20)are actually pretty decent.

Plus if you ever get a P89 or 95 or any of these, you already have mags.

My gun is prettier than yours, and it's a Glock!

Ive shot both,i own the Ruger. The marlin is a friends that ive borrowed a couple times,it shoots great and is accurate.I bought the ruger a few months ago and it shoots great too.I like the look of the ruger alot more, but thats just an opinion thing.I dont think your going to find any overwhelming advantage in either, unless its the magazine capacity issue.

I have a camp 9, and it is a fine firearm. I picked it up for $380.00 brand new this year. It had been setting in the gunshop unsold for a few years. I have seen them used for more than that at the gun show. I have had no problems with mine and it is extremly accurate. I purchased some aftermarket thirty round clips from cheaper than dirt for around $20.00. I have shot probaly around 500 rounds thru it, it is a fun gun to own. Parts are readily available on the internet. I have been told the main thing you have to replace occasionaly is the buffer, but no problems with mine yet. I believe that it is Smith and Wesson clips that will fit in the Marlin. I am a Ruger man myself but I bought the Marlin because the price was right. I am well satisfied. Im sure you cant go wrong with either one!!! Good luck Booger quote:

MARLIN IS LIGHTER, FEELS NICER, & LESS BULKY, EASY TO PUT A SCOPE OR RED DOT ON(MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MOUNTS), SYN STOCKS, AFTER MARKET ARE OUT THERE, VERY ACCURATE.

The marlin camp 9 will take s&w 59xx series mags and they are as cheap and available as the ruger mags.

I have a Camp 9. It only came with a wooden stock. I did purchase a plastic folding stock seperately from the dealer. I worked for Marlin for the past 9 years, this is an excellent rifle.

I like the Marlins a lot better than the Ruger. It is a lot easier to scope, I have red dots on both of mine, 45+9. The nine takes S&W high cap mags, that are easy to find.

Haven't shot a Ruger. Had two Marlins. Buffer issues on both. Now I have a Colt 9mm.
