Brand new will only eject spent casings half way then I have to dig them out the rest of the way. Anyone have any ideas?

What ammo? Have same gun in 22 mag, Winchester ammo does the same for me along with a lot of misfires and poor accuracy. CCI ammo has no issues and is very accurate...

I guess you mean extract instead of eject. Sounds like a problem with the bent metal extractor; needs a little tweaking. Extractor is probably not tight enough on the case rim and is allowing the case head to pull out of the recess in the bolt face as you pull back; when this happens the case pulls out far enough so the spent case can be pushed sideways by the extractor losing it's grasp. I'm sure Savage will be more than/then willing to correct this on a new gun. Watch the process as you slowly pull the bolt back to see if this is the scenario.

17 hmr. thanks for the sugestions. Thanks for the ideas, just got it back from savage and they didn't fix the problem. So i just had it sent out again. The extracter is letting go like you said so hopefully it will come back correct thanks again.
