Hi i was wondering if anyone knew if the Saiga-12 was avaible with the standard military pistol grip and fixed stock (ala the Ak-74) or if that is somehow illegal now since the assualt-type rifle ban?thanks BuckP.s Anyone know where one of this style could be found?

Thinking about leaning into one of these Russian shotguns? Can anyone assist in the direction that will save me the most money? I like the AK action. THanks for any help Mike

I'd like a SAIGA 12 guage, but I live in Connecticut. The Assault Weapons ban here lists specific models of weapons including Street Sweepers and the USAS-12, as well as a vague listing of "AK-47-type". Since a shotgun is not a rifle, is it only wishful-thinking on my part that their definition does not include the SAIGA shotguns, or am I on a fast track to becoming a felon?

If anyone knows where I can go to get a definitive answer I would really appreciate it. The other possibility is considering another magazine-fed 12 guage since there is no reference in the law. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Fitz

Why would they want to ban it...they don't work 75% of the time as it is. Those that do work, most likely have had lots of work done to them along the way.

who says they dont work? ive never had any trouble from mine. and most of the ammo ive put through it was older short brass #8 shot loads. it cycled fine for the 100 or so rds of that crap ive shot through it so far.

    My 3 have always worked

And yes, I think the JBTs at the BATFE will ban them.

The opinion that they do not work must be from someone that does not own one. I have 4 that are bone stock original and with 12rnd mags and 20rnd drums they are all flawless.
Yes, I believe it is already on the endanged species list. Will probably wind up as the street sweeper did.

I have owned two of them. I actually purchased two at the same time, as I really like my AK's...not as well as the AR's though. I couldn't get either of them to function with everything I wanted, including low brass, light target loads(actually that was the problem...they were not even low brass...they were like tin. But anyway, the only real advantage I seen in them was as a defense gun with buckshot or slugs, and the very quick mag changes.

I don't know Chuck, perhaps I just need to run them a little more, but I was impatient, and had someone who wanted to pay me double of what I had into them. Yes I did tell him about the problem.

    An outright ban for possession....no.
Ban the importation of any more....possible.
Change the classification to a destructive device, and make you PAY for a stamp....
well.....that is what they have done before with shotguns.

Oh, and mine have ran flawlessly.
Low brass, high brass, slugs, whatever I have put in.
