Greetings from upstate NY...I was recently asked to catalog and clean a series of handguns for a colleague who knows nothing about firearms. I am no expert, but I think I have, in my possession, an original Remington NAVY. Army? Could this be?

The details are as follows:

Top of octagonal barrel is stamped
Beals' Patent Sept, 14, 1858
Manufactured by Remingtons' Ilion, NY
BBL = 7 3/8" (measured from muzzle to front of cylinder)
There are no caliber or serial numbers on this firearm with the exception of a letter "K" on the grip frame and the number "761", located on trigger guard tab, underside of barrel and grip frame.
It is a blackpowder and percussion
6-shot revolver
Wooden pistol grips (walnut I believe)
trigger guard appears to be brass
front blade sight and rear notch sight along entire top of frame

Any information would be greatly appreciated
