Gun Trader's Guide 32nd ed.

Hey Guys - looking for some more input today. Yesterday I went to our local bookstore and bought the Gun Trader's Guide 32nd ed. I wanted it for reference to compare against pricing. Now I know everyone has to make a buck but I think this catalogue is out of touch. It is not even close to matching retail pricing vs. what the market is currently bearing, EXAMPLE:

Colt Anaconda NIB : matte stainless $750
Colt Anaconda NIB : custom model ported barrel $995
Colt Diamondback NIB : nickel finish $690
Colt King Cobra NIB : ultimate bright stainless $548

These listed prices can not be close to real. Is there a better catalogue to use? I am not happy! I just paid 30 bucks for this.

Feedback please.

Adam

Better than a catalog, AND FREE: Look at the COMPLETED AUCTIONS on Gunbroker & you get up-to-date, real life, values of many common firearms.

You still need a comprehensive catalog to identify guns & give a ball park value; for that, I use S. Fjestad's "Blue Book of Gun Values".

I think it tells somewhere in the book how they arrive at the prices quoted. But there are factors that cannot be factored in. For example, certain guns sell better in certain parts of the country. Or at different times of the year.
I agree that the auctions here give the best idea of current Real world values. I like the Gun Traders Guide mostly for the MFG info (dates etc) on the guns listed.

If you read the opening disclaimer in the that book. It warns you of the subjectivity of gun valuing.
