the model 10 has a "w" lying on its side, then a V in front of the serial number. V4325XX

just right of the release button it has..." Pol. Br. LuS."

The "V" in the serial number means it is a WWII "VICTORY" model M&P made during the war.
The other ones could be from where it was sent to overseas.

You got me confused by your identification of the S & W as a Model 10? S & W didn't start marking their revolvers with model numbers until 1957. This was something like 12 years after the last "V" prefix Victory Model left the factory. During the time the Victory Model was in production in W W II, they were known as the Military and Police Model, not the Model 10.

If the serial number is correct, you have what is referred to as a "Victory Model" or pre model 10 by collectors.

A Victory Model should have 5 screws. There should be four screws on the sideplate and one in front of the trigger guard.

The markings are probably German police markings as a lot of Victory Models were issued to them after the war.

    I hope this helps.

    thanks charlie.
it does have the five screws as you described.
I called it a model 10 due to it looking just like a model 10

    Thanks for your time
