Marlin Model 39

I am looking for information on a recently aquired Marlin Model 39. The serial number is HS17XX. It has a Redfield peep sight, and is in excellent condition. Bore is shinny with great rifling. Stock is knick free and the blueing has only minor wear. Looking for year of manufacturer and ball park value. Thanks

I have a marlin model 39 .22 and was just wondering what it might be worth. The gun is in what I would consider mint condition, no rust and only has a very light scratch on the forearm.

I purchased this 10601 rifle today with out the bolt and butt plate. The rear sight may be of a later model and the front looks like it may have had a insert and may be missing. The wood is in very good condition if the date I got is right, 1925, with the Marlin dot or bulls eye. The rifle has a consistant dark black, red finsh over all, I like the way it looks. The barrel is octagon and it looks like I will be able to shoot it after finding the bolt. The barrel has the Marlin logo on it with no patient date stamped in it. The rear tang has the model number and a star stamped into it, the tang behind the trigger has the serial number and the last four are stamped on the the other part of the take down.

1. How much is rifle worth if I restore it to shooting condition.

2. I would like to seal the wood so I can stop the wood from checking, should I BLO it.

3. Where to get the missing parts and what to look for in a rifle this old.

This is my grandfathers Marlin rifle. He bought it off of a customer of his after he husband died back and says he has only taken it to the range once. He is interested in knowing its value so I told him i would ask you fine people.

The Marlin Model 39 has been made since 1921 (redesignated the Model 39A in 1937) and there are numerous variations of it over the past 90 years. We need clear pictures and the serial number in order to provide any opinions as you have provided no details whatsoever.
