    Interesting. This does not look like normal Cut Engraving but rather sort of like it was almost Roll stamped. or Laser engraved. The depiction of the quail is quite good but again the overall effect is for some reason this looks to be stamped rather then Engraved. Thus I suspect not what most people that like high grade engraving would want. I don't want to sound like a Gun Snob but I think in would not increase the value very much over a plain non embellished receiver. [:(]sorry.

    David Maass is a fairly famous artist specializing in paintings and prints, etchings, etc. of American game birds. His work was honored by several of the game bird foundations/associations as well as being selected for use of a series of USPS stamps. Do an internet search on David Maass and you will find lots of information. Don't know who, why or how that "engraving" found its way onto your shotgun, but it looks typical of his work. Probably a licensed reproduction - maybe laser engraved from a master.
