I need an approximate value on a recent gift. Python, very nice condition in blue, manufactured about '64 ,no letter prefix before the serial #. I know it's all based on condition, but I need a starting point. No box or papers. Any help from you Colt experts?

Hi guys, I need to tap your knowledge. I recently purchased a Python with no box/paperwork. Serial number is VA21XX. Can anyone give me any history on this firearm and factory finish when it was produced ? THANK YOU.

You can call Colt monday through friday, eastern time. Also research ended auctions of said firearm as it will determine fair market value.

Your Python was probably manufactured in 1985. Finishes available were blue or nickel steel frame, and stainless steel (matte finish, not sure if polished stainless was available yet dn't have my catalogs handy just now). Only the Colt factory will be able to tell you the finish and grips when it left the factory. Have a credit card number ready when you call. Colt Manufacturing has a website with instructions on receiving a letter, by mail, on their Colt Historian letterhead. Prices vary by model.

As always - Thanks guys ! It is indeed nickel finish. I have been looking for one in the original box and with paperwork but those get pricey for a guy like me. Pricing seems to vary greatly when I look at past auctions apples to apples so I am not sure if I got a good deal or paid market value. It is a solid 98%. However, I love the gun so that is all that matters I guess. My next plan is to get it authenticated by Colt Mfg w/ letter.
